有馬記念は年末の恒例勝負だが、Two-Minute Fairy Tales はホントに２分で読めるのか？(まさか、よもや・・・なんで？) の巻

皆さん、こんにちは。

なぞのタイトルですね。
途中から字が少し大きくなるのですが、これはso-net 君の設定が、なぜか字の大きさを自在に変えられなくなってしまったため、後で出てくる「英文」に合わせたためなのですね。
英文を大きくするには、他の部分も大きくしないといけないのです。

新しいパソコンにしてwindows 7　を使い出しましたら、どうして、イキナリこうなってしまったのでしょう。ほんっとに、困りますね。
しかも、マウスで掴む「文字の選択」すらできないのです。もちろん、コピー＆ペーストもできません。
致命的欠陥をかかえつつ、これまで書いていたのですね。

まあ、ですね、それはそれとしまして、
本日２３日は、中央競馬の総決算、「有馬記念レースG1」の日です。
ふだん競馬をやらない方でも、この有馬記念レースだけは、年末のイベントとして参加している、という方も少なくないでしょう。

今年は、ジャパンカップの１着ジュンテルドンナお嬢様（３歳牝馬３冠馬）と、２着オルフェーブル君（フランス凱旋門賞２着、３歳牡馬３冠馬、有馬記念＆宝塚記念を制して５冠馬）という両横綱馬が出走を回避しましたので、再度の対決がみたいファンには、かなり楽しみが減ってしまったのですが・・・。

有馬記念は、特にドラマがかったレースが多く、記憶に残る名勝負が展開されているのですが、なかでも、次のレースは鮮明に記憶されている方も少なくないでしょう。

☆（１）トウカイテイオー　１年ぶり奇跡の復活レース
　　　（前年有馬記念１１着惨敗から１年ぶりのレースで）

☆（２）オグリキャップ　涙の引退レース復活勝利
　　（天皇賞、ジャパンカップと惨敗し、もうこれまでと見られた怪物オグリキャップを、若き天才騎手武豊が復活優勝に導く）

☆（３）ターフに散った悲劇の貴公子テンポイントが最大に輝いた瞬間
　（最初から最後まで激しいせりあいの末、ライバル天馬トウショウボーイを退ける）



この杉本清さんは、名調子・思い入れ実況のアナウンサーで、有馬記念だけでなく、名馬名勝負物語の実況は、ジーンと来るものが多いですね。


（４）国内で唯一の敗戦　ディープインパクト敗れるの衝撃が列島を走り抜けた

フランスの名手ルメール騎手渾身の騎乗で、ハーツクライがディープインパクトを破る

当方も、福島競馬場でターフビジョンを見ていて、腰を抜かしましたね。

福島の釜先温泉（白石からバス）で４日ほどのんびりし、温泉代をかせぐべく、福島競馬場へ。
なんとか、他のレースで温泉代を捻出しましたが、ですね。

これ以外にも、いろいろと名レース、あっと驚くレースが繰り広げられていたのですが、ここ最近のレースが気になる方は、ダイジェストでご覧いただければと思います。



ニューヨーク同時多発テロの年は、マンハッタンカフェ、アメリカンボスで決着しまして、驚愕の「アメリカ馬券」となりました。世相馬券の最たるものですね。

で、ですね。
今年も、１６頭がスタンバイしました有馬記念ですが、

（やっと、今年に来たか！　回想録で終わりかと思ったワイ。）

人気は、次の２頭です。
☆１３番　ゴールドシップ君（父ステイゴールド）
皐月賞、菊花賞の３歳２冠馬で、オルフェーブル君と同じ母の父メジロマックィーン。

☆９番　ルーラーシップ君（父キングカメハメハ）
香港でG1制覇　秋の国内G1は天皇賞３着、ジャパンカップ３着ですが、母エアグルーブは稀代の名牝でした。出遅れ癖がネックです。
　

当方の本命は、前回ジャパンカップでも本命にしました10番「ダークシャドウ君」（ジャパンカップでは痛恨の４着）です。
相手筆頭は、春の天皇賞勝ちがフロック視されている14番「ビートブラック君」。
次いで、中山競馬場大好きの15番ナカヤマナイト君です。
１０－１４－１５という予想ですね。

しか～し、
かかしはSCARECROW

このところの当方の予想は、大概外れていますので、ここは素直に１番人気、強い３歳馬のゴールドシップ君から３連単を買うことにしました。
（まあ、そういうことで）

結果は、

ゴールドシップ君の勝利です。ぱちぱちぱち。

ルーラーシップ君は、ものの見事に、大～きく大～～～～～～～きく出遅れまして、猛追届かず、またもや３着。

で、２着のお馬さんは？



パンのセットが安いのはわかったから、２着のお馬さんは？



また、こんなに食ったんかい！！



で、３連単の１着１３番はいいとして、２着のお馬さんは、この中にいるの？
９番が３着だから、
４，１０、１４，１５ のどれかが２着だと当たるのね？

変なワイドも買ったのね？ついでに馬連も？

６番　オーシャンブルー君（父ステイゴールド）２着
オルフェーブル君やゴールドシップ君とおんなじ父で、しかも、オルフェーブル君とおんなじ厩舎の仲間なのです。
ステイゴールド、いい仕事してますね。

もしかして、1着Goldship で、シップの「船」だから、青い大海原Ocian Blue に乗りだすって？

その通りです。
今回の有馬記念は、今年の文字「金」のゴールドシップ君が１着で、大海原に乗り出すオーシャンブルー君が２着。

エリザベス女王陛下６０周年で、６がキイワードだったのです。
海に乗り出して、イギリスは大英帝国を築きました。
そして、世界を支配したのです。
出遅れながらも、ルーラーシップ君３着。

今年はロンドンオリンピックもありましたし、祝エリザベス女王の「大英帝国馬券」となった次第です。

ということは？

２着欄に６番のない当方の馬券は？

青い海の藻屑となったのですね。

あうっと。
マイナス６千円、30円コロッケ２００個分です。

素直にゴールドシップ君から買ったものの、大英帝国の威光を考慮しなかった当方の落ち度です。

英語ブログやっているのに！！！
どうして、大英帝国馬券を買えなかったのでしょう？

それにしても、恐ろしきは、ステイゴールド好きの高橋源一郎さんですね。

3頭出走したステイゴールド産駒のうち唯一こなかったナカヤマナイトを本命◎にしたのは氏らしいのですが、「ステイゴールド産駒３頭の馬単ボックスで勝負」と言い切っていますから、ボックスの６点で、１３－６の馬単５２００円をゲットです。さらに、７レース：ホープフルステークスも氏の予言どおり、サトノネプチューン１着でした。「こんなに外れちゃダメかしら？」のタイトルと違って、予想は的確なのですね。ただし、何頭か候補を挙げてその中から選んだときは、来ない方を選ぶのが氏のスタンスです。

こうして、今年の馬券生活もあと１日（今年は、明日月曜日にも競馬があるのです）を残しまして惨敗なのですが、気を取り直しまして、

に挑戦してみたいと思います。

(1) Jack and Beanstalk

Once upon a time there was a boy named Jack who lived with his mother in a tiny cottage.
Many years before, an evil giant had stolen Jack's father's fortune, and now they were very poor.

One day Jack's mother said to him, " Son, you must take your cow to market and sell her so we may buy food. " Jack set out at once.

On his way to the market Jack met an old man. " I'll trade you these magic beans for your cow, " said the old man. Jack agreed to the trade. But when he returned home and showed his mother the beans, she was very angry.
" Now we shall starve ! " she cried as she threw the beans out the window.

The next morning Jack looked out his window. A tremendously tall beanstalk seemed to reach up to the sky.



" These were magic beans ! " shouted jack. He ran outside and quickly climbed the beanstalk.

At the top of the beanstalk was a beautiful castle. Jack hopped up to the open window and perched on the sill. He saw a huge giant at a table, staring a little hen.
" Lay, hen , lay ! " roared the giant、and hen laid a golden egg.
" Very good, " said the giant with a yawn. Soon he fell fast asleep.

" That's my father's golden hen ! " thought Jack. When the giant began snoring, Jack jumped through the window, snached up the hen, and quickly slid down the beanstalk.

" Oh, Jack, " said his mother happily, " you have found your father's hen ! "

The next day Jack climbed the beanstalk again. And once again he peeked into the giant's castle. This time the giant was listening to a golden harp.
"Play, harp, play ! " commanded the giant. And the harp played such beautiful music that it soon lulled the giant to sleep. Jack jumped through the window, seized the harp,and quickly slid down the beanstalk.

" Oh, Jack ! " said his mother. " You have found your father's golden harp ! "

The next morning Jack climbed the beanstalk again. The giant was in a teririble mood because he had just discoverd that his hen and his harp were missing. He sniffed the air and said,
"Fee, fi, fo, fum,
 I smell the blood of an Englishman.
 Be he alive or be he dead,
 I'll grind his bones to make my bread. "
" Wife ! " growled the giant. " Fetch me my gold. That will surely cheer me up. "

The giant's wife hurried to obey him. The giant counted his gold pieces for a while and then he closed his eyes. When Jack thought the giant had fallen asleep, he jumped through the window.

But the giant had only been pretending to sleep, and he leapt up with a roar. " I know I smell a boy ! " he bellowed as he raced after Jack.

" Mother, get the ax ready ! " Jack shouted from the top of the beanstalk.



As Jack climbed down, the beanstalk began to sway. Jack looked up and saw the giant was coming down, too. Jack dropped the gold and slid all the way down to the ground.
Then he took the ax and cut the beanstalk in two.

There was a great crash, and the giant fell through the ground, all the way to the center of the earth.

Jack and his mother lived happily ever after. For who could be sad with a hen to lay golden egg, a harp that plays beautiful music, and gold to buy all your heart desires ?

当方は元の絵本を読んでいますから、このブログ文よりもだいぶ読みやすかったとは思います。
一応、このtwo-Minute Fairy Tales は、２分ぐらいで読める、みたいですね。

(2) Hansel and Gretel

Once upon a time there lived a poor woodcutter, his wife, and his two children, Hasel and Gretel. The wife was the childen's stepmother, and she was very cruel to them.
One day the woodcutter said to his wife, " What shall we do ? There is not enough food to feed us all. "

" I have a plan, " the stepmother said. " Early in the morning we will take the children into the forest　leave them there. They will never find their way home again. "

The next morning, before the sun was up, the stepmother shouted to Hansel and Gretel, " Get u, you lazy children ! We are going into the forest to cut wood. Here is a piece of bread. Don't eat it yet, because you won't get any more. "

But Hansel and Gretel had heard what their stepmother had said to ther father. As they walked deep into the forest Hasel left a trail of bread crumbs t help them find their way home.

When they reached the middle of the forest, the father built a fire.
Then the stepmother said, " Wait here by the fire whil we go to chop wood. We will come back to get you."



Hasel and Gretel knew they would not come back. The children tried to find the trail of bread crumbs, but birds had eaten them. They walked all day and night until the next morning.

Then they saw before them a little house, all made of gingerbread, with windows of spun suger. The children ran to the house. Hansel ate a piece of roof and Gretel ate some window.

Suddenly they heard a voice.
" Nibble, nibble, like a mouse,
  Who's that nibbling at my house ? "

The door opened, and an old woman stepped out.
" Do come in, " she said sweetly. She fed Hansel and Gretel a wonderful dinner and put them to bed.

Now, although the old woman seemed very kind, she was really a wicked witch who ate little children.

The next morning she awakened Hansel and put him in a cage.
Then she woke up Gretel and put her to work.
" I'm going to eat you both, " she said.



Each morning she asked Hanel to stick out his finfer so she could feel how fat he was getting.
At last she decided to eat him.

Gretel had to build the fire and fill the kettle.
" Grawl in the oven and see if it is warm enough, " said the witch.

" I don't know how, " said Gretel. "You must show me. "

So the old witch put her head in the oven. Quick as a flash, Gretel pushed her in and slammed the door shut !

Then Gretel let Hansel out of his cage.
" We're free ! " they shouted.  " The old witch is dead ! "

They filled their pockets with glittering jewels from the witch's house. Then off they went to find their way home. Soon they heard a happy shout.
" Hansel ! Gretel ! I have serched and serched for you ! " cried their father.

He took them home, and they all lived happily together, for their stepmother had gone away forever.  And the money from the witch's jewels was more than enough for them to live well for the rest of their lives.

今度は、２分５２秒でした。
なんとか、ぎりぎり２分台ですね。

実際のところ、やさしい英語で書かれた文であっても、「早く読める」こと、イコール「英文を頭から順々に普通に読める」、ではないのですが、
普通に英文を読んでいければ、
２~3分で読める物語だということですね。絵本のタイトルに偽りなし。

当方は、読むのがわりと遅いほうですので、two-Minute Fairy Tales は、その名のとおり、２分のおとぎ話、のようです。

ただし、
有馬記念の馬券を外したからといって、ここで、two-Minute Fairy Tales を読む必然性は全くないのですが、ですね。

なら、読ますな！！

たまには、やさしいFairy Tale をお出しする、こんな回が西新井ブログにあってもよいのではないかと、西新井井戸端会議の答申があったのですね。

こんにちは、です。ありがとうございます。
オグリキャップのラストランは、見事でしたですね。オグリは馬らしくない顔をしているので（当方的には）、当方も、忘れがたいですね。
ちょっとへんてこな回で、競馬だけにしておけばよかったのですが・・・。
いま、クリスマスケーキのレシピをネットで探しているのですが、けっこうイロイロとあるものですね。自分で作るのは、やはり難しそうですので、買いにいってきます。
