2月15日～2月19日までの５日間 の巻

 
お豆腐とともに買ってきたものの、「木綿豆腐だけ」先に食べてしまいました。
そうまでして、ハンバーグにする必要があるのだろうか？
小さいお子さんのいるご家庭では、いいのかも。

皆さん、こんにちは。

前回の西新井ブログが2月15日(土)でした。
本日2月20日。
この間、ずっと仕事で毎日雪かきをしていたわけですが(なんと、昨日19日も、よもやの雪かきしていたのです)、ブログを全くサボっていたかといいますと、さにあらず。

1日1分やさしい洋書ブログは、毎日更新していたわけです。
「１日１分」ですから、２日おきとか、とびとびというわけにはゆきません。
このところ、毎日、２本立てです。

ではなくて、ですね。

京王井の頭線 西永福駅前の「普通のお店」(と思う)
美味しいけれど、昔ながらの細麺のせいか、スープが若干ぬるい気がします。
ラーメンスープは、ちょっと熱めが好みです。

お～い、まさかと思うけど、その２本立てを「コピペ」して、そのまま出さないよね？　
「やさしい英語を楽しく読みましょう」などと言って、「いがでしょう」とでもつけて。
いくら時間がないからって、そういう暴挙は、やめましょうよ。

えっと、「いかがでしょう」
「やさしい英語を楽しく読みましょう」
断行するのです。

Long ago and far away, there lived a six blind men.
Although these men could not see, they learned about the world in many ways.

They could hear the music of the flute with their ears.

They could feel the softness of silk with their fingers.

They could smell the scent of food cooking and taste its spicy flavor.



Together they took care of their home in a small village and they were very happy.

Then one day, the villagers told them, "Hey, the Prince had received a new elephant at his palace."

They had no idea what an elephant is.
The blind men had heard of an elephant, but they had never met one.

They decided, "Even though we would not be able to see it, let us go to the Prince's palace and feel it anyway. Then we can find out what the elephant is really like.  "

All of them went off to the Prince's palace.
It was a long walk to the palace. The blind men grew hot and thirsty.

But they did not stop.
They could not wait to touch the elephant.

Finally they reached the palace.

A guard came to greet them.
The blind men told him why they had come.

" Of course you may see and touch the elephant, " said the guard.
" I'm sure the prince would not mind. "

The guard led the six blind men to the animal, which stood quietly in the palace garden.



The first blind man touched the elephant's side of belly.
" It is strong and wide, " he thought.
" I think an elephant is like a huge wall. "

The second blind man touched the elephant's long, round trunk.
"Oh, no! it is like a thick branch of a tree, " he cried.

The third blind man grabbed the elephant's smooth ivory tusk.
" Why, an elephant is as sharp as a spear. It is like a solid pipe. "

The forth blind man touched the elephant's leg. 
"Hey, the elephant is a pillar. It's as round and firm as a tree," said the forth man.

The fifth blind man held the elephant's ear.
The ear was very big and the elephant flapped it gently.
" It's just like a big hand fan, "said the fifth man.  

The sixth blind man touched the elephant's long, thin tail.
"Oh, no! it is like a rope," said the sixth man.

They began to argue about the elephant and everyone of them insisted that he was right.
It looked like they were getting agitated.

By now, it was midday.
The sun burned hot in the sky.

" Stop the arguing. Why don't you rest under the shadow of tree ? I will bring you some water," the guard said to them and took them over to a tall, shady tree.

While they waited, the six blind men talked about the elephant again.

"No one told me that the elephant is like a wall, " said the first man.

" A wall ? " said the second man. " Oh, no. It is like a snake. "

The third man shook his head.
" An elephant is clearly like a spear. "

" What ? " said the fourth man. "An elephant is like a pillar as round and firm as a tree. "

" You are all wrong. An elephant is certainly like a big hand fan, " said the fifth man.

" No, it is like a rope, " yelled the sixth blind man. 

Everyone of them insisted that he was right. 
The sound of angry voices filled the garden.

" A wall !, " " A snake ! , " " A spear !, " A tree ! ", " A fan ! ", " A rope ! " 
It was the sound of six blind men fighting about the elephant.

The Prince was passed by and he saw this.
He stopped and asked them, "What is the matter?"

" We are sorry, his Majesty." said the first blind man.
" But We cannot agree to what the elephant is like."

Each one of them told what he thought the elephant was like.
" We each touched the same animal. But to each of us the elephant is completely different.

The Prince calmly explained to them, " The elephant is a very large animal. All of you are right, but wrong too.The reason every one of you is telling it differently because each one of you touched only one part of the elephant. Its side is like a wall. Its trunk is like a snake.Its tusk are like a spears. Its legs are like trees. Its ears are like fans. And its tail is like a rope. So,  actually to know what an elephant is really like, you must put all those parts together"

"Oh!" everyone said.
They thought about the prince's words.
Then, there was no more fight.

" I will tell you something more about the elephant, " said the Prince.
" It is very good to ride on. Now you will ride on my elephant all the way home. "

So they did.
They all felt happy.

The moral of the story is that there may be some truth to what someone says.
Sometimes we can see that truth and sometimes not because they may have different perspective which we may not agree too.

So, rather than arguing like the blind men, we should say, "Maybe you have your reasons."
This way we don’t get in arguments. It teaches us to be tolerant towards others for their viewpoints.

１回１分という仮の想定ですと、この分量を、5分で読むこととなります。

もうひとつの掲載が、ナルニア国物語、Adventure in Narnia (57)～(61)です。

こちらは、途中なのでちょっとわかりづらいでしょうから、説明を加えますと、Lucy, Susan, Peter, Edmund の4人(子供達)が揃ってNarniaナルニアへきまして、彼女ら・彼らの味方となるBeaver 君と会う場面です。

" What's it like ? " said Lucy.

" It's ー it's a kind of animal, " said Susan, and then, " Look ! Look ! Quick ! There it is. "

They all saw it this time, a whiskered fully face which had looked out at them from behind a tree.



But this time it didn't immediately draw back.
Instead, the animal put its paw against its mouth just as human put their finger on their lips when they are signaling to you be quiet.



Then it disappeared again.
The children all stood holding their breath.

A moment later the stranger came out from behind the tree, glanced all round as if it were afraid someone was watching, said, " Hush, " made signs to them to join it in the thicker bit of wood where it was standing, and then once more disappeared.

"I know what it is, " said Peter; " it's a beaver.  I saw the tail. "

" It wants us to go to it, " said Susan, " and it is warning us not to make a noise. "

" I know, " said Peter.
" The question is, are we to go to it or not ? What do you think, Lu?"  

" I think it's a nice beaver, " said Lucy.

追記というか、おわび A.

皆の衆、すまんかったね。このあと(58)~(61)まであるんだけど、sunnyのやつを許してやってね。
ナルニア国物語、回数でわかると思うけど、もう２ケ月もやっているんよ、毎日。もうすぐナルニアの「秘密」が出てくるので、そこまで続くらしいのね。
１日１分も、読んでくださる方がいるから、丸２年以上続いているんだけれども、ナルニアはけっこう字が小さくてね。今日、目薬２つプレゼントしといたけれど、なにしろあいつはほとんど片目で、その片目が0.3で乱視だからね。

ということで、以下(58)~(61)へ、ちくっとね。では。

Adventure in NARNIA (58)

" Yes, but how do we know ? " said Edmund.

" Shan't we have to risk it ? " said Susan.
" I mean, it's no good just standing here and I feel I want some dinner. "

At this moment the Beaver again popped its head out from behind the tree and beckoned earnestly to them.

" Come on, " said Peter, " let's  give it a try. All keep close together.  We ought to be a match for one beaver if it turns out to be an enemy. "

So the children all got close together and walked up to the tree and in behind it, and there, sure enough, they found the Beaver; but it still drew back, saying to them in a hoarse throaty whisper, "  Further in, come further in. Right in here. We're not safe in the open ! "

Only when it had led them into a dark spot where trees grew so close together that their boughs met  and the brown earth and pine needles could be seen underfoot because no snow had been able to fall there, did it begun to talk to them.

" Are you the Sons of Adam and the Daughters of Eve ? " it said.

" We are some of them, " said Peter.

" S-s-s-sh! " said the Beaver. "
" Not so loud, please. We're not safe even here, "

" Why, who are you afraid of ? " said Peter.
" There's no one here but ourselves. "

" There are trees, " said the Beaver.
" They're always listening. Most of them are on oue side, but there are trees that would betray us to here; you know who I mean, " and it nodded its head several times.

" If it comes to talking about sides, "said Edmund, " how do we know you're a friend ? "

" Not meaning to be rude, Mr Beaver, " added Peter, " but you see, we're strangers. "

" Quite right, quite right, " said the Beaver.
" Here is my token. "
With these words it held up to them little white object.

They all looked at it in surprise till suddenly Lucy said.
" Oh, of course. It's my handkerchief ー the one I gave to poor Mr Tumnus. "

" That's right, " said the Beaver.
" Poor fellow, he got wind of the arrest before it actually happened and handed this over to me. He said that if anything happened to him I must meet you here and take you on to ー "
Here the Beaver's voice sank into silence and it gave one or two very mysterious nods.

注：Mr Tumnus は、Lucy が初めてナルニアへきた時に知り合った良きFaun で、雪の魔女の命に反しLucy を逃してくれた友人です。

Then, signaling to the children to stand as close around it as they possibly could, so that their faces were actually tickled by its whiskers, it added in a low whisper ー
" They say Aslan is on the move ー perhaps has already landed. "

And now a very curious thing happened. None of the  children knew who Aslan was any more than you do; but the moment the Beaver had spoken these words everyone felt quite different. 

Perhaps it has sometimes happened to you in a dream  that someone says something which you don't understand but in the dream it feels as if it has enormous meaning, ー either a terrifying one which turns the whole dream into a nightmare or else a lovely meaning too lovely to put into words, which makes the dream so beautiful that you remember it all your life and are always wishing you could get into that dream again.  

It was like that now.
At the name of Aslan each one of the children felt something jump in its inside.

今回は、Perhaps 以降 かなりの長文で意味の取りにくい文が含まれているのですが、全体の構造を考えるよりは、ひとくくり・ひとくくりづつ、前から順にお読みいただければ、と思います。


Adventure in NARNIA (61)

Edmund felt a sensation of mysterious horror.

Peter felt suddenly brave and adventurous.

Susan felt as if some delicious smell or some delightful strain o music had just floated by her.

And Lucy got the feeling you have when you wake up in the morning and realize that it is the beginning of the holidays or the beginning of summer.

" And what about Mr Tumnus, " said Lucy; " Where is he ? "

" S-s-s-sh, " said the Beaver, " not here. I must bring you where we can have a real talk and also dinner. "

No one except Edmund felt any difficulty about trusting the Beaver now, and everyone, including Edmund, was very glad to hear the word " dinner ".

They therefore all hurried along behind their new friend who led them at a surprisingly quick pace, and always in the thickest parts of the forest, for over an hour.

Everyone was feeling very tired and very hungry when suddenly the trees began to get thinner in front of them and the ground to fall steeply downhill.

A minute later they came out under the open sky ( the sun was still shining ) and found themselves looking down on a fine sight.

豆腐ハンバーグ、ヘルシーと言うだけで女性に売れそうな気がします。
ただ、お肉でも脂の部分を使わなければあまり変わらないような気もしますが・・・(￣∇￣;)

アルマさんへ。
当方も、ヘルシーそうだなあ、ちょっと作ってみるかと買ってきたのですが、生来のものぐさで、結局お豆腐ばかり食べることに。
しかし、あまりおいしいお豆腐に巡り合えませんので、今度、豆腐ハンバーグつくりに挑戦しようと思っております。

なんだかなぁ〜!! 横 濱男さんへ。
麺がのびるからか、それとも味わいにいいせいなのかわかりませんが、どうみても猫舌の人向けとしか思えないのです。熱い麺は熱く、冷たい麺はしゃっきりと冷たく、食べたいのですが、なかなか希望がかないません。お味はとても良いと思うのですが、魅力半減というところのお店でした。
ラーメンの世界、ずっとアツアツのスープとなるよう、もっと工夫を凝らせると思うのですが、ですね。

風来鶏さんへ。
肩と腕が重くて、腕が上にあがりませんので、生きてはいるのだろうと思います。正直、雪かきで疲れ果てまして。

スコップを入手して、かつ体を少し鍛えて、来年に備えたいと思います。

支障を来した方続出、ですよねー。
もうこれ以上の雪はない・・と信じたいところですが

ヘルシー嗜好の昨今、豆腐ハンバーグを
よく見聞きするようになりましたね。
でもあまり栄養価のないものを日々食べてるので ^^;
ハンバーグまで豆腐にしなくてもいいかと思って
豆腐ハンバーグは食べたことがありません。
別に違和感は感じないので、食べたらおいしそうだけど。

秋川滝美さんへ。
実際、このくらいで弱音を吐いては情けないのですが、６日連続の雪かきには正直まいりました。
本を読む持久力はあるのですが、人生体力という面も必要ですね。頑張ります。
ところで次回ブログで、ついに当方の正体を明らかにしたいと思っております。「おたふく」でない、もの。、

がり さんへ。
ハンバーグは、溢れ出る肉汁といいますが、お肉お肉しているほうが、と当方も思います。
実は、ほんとうに美味しいハンバーグというのを未だ食べた記憶が無いのですが、美味しいハンバーグ、堪能してみたいです。
お豆腐ハンバーグの素は、どんなものができるか興味がありますので、近々作ってみようと思います。ただ、袋の中身を見ますと、「お肉」と合わせたほうが美味しいハンバーグができる気がするのですが、ですね。

おつかれさまです。
ようやっと肩や腰の方は　雪かきの影響から脱する所に来ていますが　利き腕の腱鞘炎はなかなか手ごわいです。
でも仕事しないわけも行かず　食事を作らないわけも行かず。。。
（キーボードの叩く回数も減らし）大人しくしながら　過ごすのはやはり　せっかちには　性に合わないみたいで。。。＾＾；

ゆうのすけ さんへ。
腱鞘炎は、昔当方もかなり悩まされましたが、なかなか治らず、きついですね。ゆっくりと養生といいましても、何をするにも手を使わないわけにはゆきませんし。しかし、なんとかご養生ください。
こちらは、やっと腕が上がるようになりましたので、サボっておりました西新井ブログも、徐々に書いてゆこうと思います。もっとも、内容は、相変わらずヨタ話になると思いますが。
自分はけっして非力ということはなく、腰の力はあるので体幹によってけっこう重いものも運べたりするのですが、腕そのものには力がほとんどないということを改めて痛感いたしました。ちなみに、相撲の得意技は、内無双（知っている人がわりと少ない決まり手）です。

PENGUIN さんへ。
実は、三代目茂蔵豆富で買ってきます「豆富ハンバーグ」はけっこう食べているのですが、マズイとは言いませんけれども、豆富ハンバーグは、それほど美味しいということはないと思います。
普通のハンバーグより、肝臓にはよいと思うのですが、お豆腐をそのまま食べる方が、当方は好きです。
